Our Graduates
|
Companion Dog Training has many successful graduates in
all areas of competition. Some of the graduates
we're proudest of don't compete, but go home to become
wonderful companions to their families. They don't
give out titles and ribbons for companionship, but we
believe that it's some of the most important work we
do. Here are some stories and testimonials from some
companionship oriented dogs and recognition for our
competitive graduates:
Kellye and Jangles - Jangles began his obedience training in our group classes. Jangles went from there to earn his AKC Companion Dog title (CD), as well as Masters Agility (MX) and Master Agility Jumps with Weaves titles (MXJ). During this progression, Kellye also became training director with Waco Agility Group and while training with Jerry Brown made an appearance at the AKC Agility Nationals in 2005. Sandy and Shadow & Millie - Sandy also began training her dogs with CDT's group obedience classes. Both Shadow and Millie are now Therapy Dogs with the Angel Paws program and Sandy is the current Angel Paws President. Sandy and Darby - After graduating from CDT's group classes, Darby has become a Therapy Dog with the Angel Paws group. John and Hallie - Hallie started out in CDT's Boarding & Training program and has gone one to join the other Therapy Dogs with Angel Paws. Freddie and Kunze - Another graduate of CDT's group obedience classes, Kunze loves to cheer up patients as a Therapy Dog with the Angel Paws program. Anna and Rocky - Yet another patient pleasing Therapy Dog with Angel Paws, Rocky's obedience lessons were begun with our group classes. Jane and Kate & Dusty - Group class graduate Kate has gone on to earn her Companion Dog title from the AKC (CD) and currently is a Therapy Dog with Angel Paws as is Jane's other canine buddy, Dusty, who also took group classes with CDT. |
Testimonial: "I just want you to know the follow up on Brauman, our Rotti (Rottweiler) you trained. He is doing better every day & so are we. I take him on walks every morning. It is a joy & 'B' really enjoys it. He has the commands down really well. He even will do them without a leash. He is getting better on the idea of people coming over but it's not as long of a process of getting him settled. We tell them the right commands. Still needs a little work but that will come too. People that had seen him before can really see a difference in him now. Again, just wanted to let you know my husband and I are very pleased....Again, thank you." Derek and Jean Lemanolle, 7/26/01
One of my favorite stories is about the girl who came with her grandparents to pick up their border collie after it completed the Boarding & Training program. The dog previously had problems with jumping up on the kids and knocking them down. I brought their now well-mannered dog out to meet them and the girl spent some time petting and loving on the dog. Finally she asked her grandparents where "their dog" was. They told her, "This IS our dog." "No," she said, "I mean the one that lives at your house." It took some convincing but she finally realized it was the same dog. Talk about night and day!
